Horse Breeder Game: Open Alpha Now Live

June 11, 2026

Horse Breeder Game is now in Open Alpha. The invite-only gate is gone. Anyone with a Rare Breed Games account can sign in, claim their first horse, and start building a yard.

HBG is not a clicker. It is a hyper-realistic equine simulation built around real horsemanship: the same diseases your vet treats, the same livery packages your local yard offers, the same coat-colour genes a 2024 lab can sequence.

What is in the game today

  • Real coat-colour genetics across 21 loci, including Extension, Agouti, Cream, Dun, Silver, Gray, and the full KIT white-pattern series with Frame Overo and its lethal homozygote. Punnett squares actually predict the foal.
  • Six handcrafted UK livery yards, from a Cotswolds family stable to a Perthshire premium sport-horse establishment. Pick DIY, Part, or Full livery per horse, billed weekly the way real yards do it.
  • Eight equine diseases (laminitis, colic, mud fever, strangles, sweet itch, equine flu, tetanus, lameness), each with real-world triggers and breed-typical susceptibilities. A Gypsy Cob is three times more laminitis-prone than a Thoroughbred.
  • Four seasons and ten weather conditions drawn from real probability tables. Spring grass spikes laminitis; heavy rain doubles mud fever; a 3-day forecast helps you plan the weeks rugging.
  • Personality traits (temperament, boldness, trainability) shaped by both bloodline and your handling. Bond builds will, ring success builds boldness, neglect leaves a wary mark.
  • Fourteen breed shows across four seasons with in-hand, ridden, foal, and breed-specific classes. Real-style judging on conformation, training, bond, and breed fit.
  • Nineteen breeds at launch, including the full British Native pony spread, great heavies, carriage breeds, hot-bloods, and a selection of worldwide breeds.
  • Conformation, careers, castration, rugs and clips, passports, finances, and a turn-based pacing model that respects your time.

What "Open Alpha" actually means

Open Alpha means anyone can play and there is no invite code. It does not mean the game is finished. Expect:

  • Rough edges and visual polish gaps as we focus on systems first
  • Balance changes to disease rates, prize money, training curves, and breed pools as we learn what feels right
  • Occasional resets or rollbacks if a major issue needs fixing — we will warn you in advance whenever possible
  • An active feedback loop: your bug reports, balance gripes, and feature requests directly shape what gets built next

Bring patience and a notepad and we will bring the horses.
